What was Churchill's ideology and how did it affect his and Great Britain's involvement in WWII.  Specifically, how did Churchill direct the British people during this turbulent time? 

Churchill's ideology was that Britain needed to be very concerned with Hitler's rise to power with Nazi Germany. After the war broke out, he then also felt that Britain needed to get involved and be on the offensive towards Hitler and his then easily controllable force. His ideologies affected his and Great Britain's involvement in WWII by pressuring the nation into charging into the war once it had passed the point of turning a blind eye towards the increasing aggression of Hitler's Nazi Germany. He was newly named the British Minister of Defense, so his opinions and ideologies towards the War basically decided what the nation would do. He also acted like a strong, sturdy rock for the British people as the Prime Minister, guiding his people with faith and trust in himself and his allies.

Regional causes for World War I were the growing sense of nationalism within Germany due to the nation's rapid growth in military power and industrial leadership. Nationalism within France also grew due to the bitterness felt over the loss of Alsace and Lorraine in the 1871 Franco-Prussian War. Militarism also developed in every country involved, which fueled the desire to fight. Overseas, different colonies began to fight in support of their mainland leaders, causing tension to strengthen between the European countries. Political causes for the Great War were the breaking of neutralism in Belgium by Germany, invasions by smaller countries like Balkan and Serbia, the assassination of Francis Joseph, and the formation of paranoid alliances between Britain, France, and Russia, as well as the alliances between Germany, Italy, and Austria-Hungary.
